Brother Victor H. Thornton was born on August 3, 1936, in Durham, North Carolina. He was initiated into Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, on December 9, 1954, through Psi Chapter on the campus of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1958, he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics, with a Minor in Education from Morehouse. In 1960, he earned a Masters degree in Science Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Later, in 1974, he earned another Masters Degree in Public Affairs from Indiana University.

Brother Thornton has been a member of Alpha Chi Chapter since 1961. During his tenure, he has held the office of Basileus, Vice Basileus, Keeper of Records and Seal, and Keeper of Finance. The many awards to his credit include: The 1977 Omega Man of The Year Award; The 2002 & 2004 Edgar A. Harrison Award and The 2003 Founders Award.

Whenever there is a question concerning the direction our chapter should take, Brother Vic is always ready, willing and able to give his advice. He brings life to our meetings with his “spirited” commentary. However, with over sixty-two years of experience in the Fraternity, his input is very much appreciated.

Thank you for over six decades of service to Omega. We salute you Brother Vic, for over five decades of leadership and consistent dedication to our chapter alone.
